Undergraduate Minors in Educational Technology



The Educational Technology program offers minors in Educational Technology and Technology Education and Corporate Training for the Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT), Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS), and the Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Studies (BMS). Currently, we offer 18 undergraduate hours in Educational Technology. All of these courses are offered completely online. Both Educational Technology minors participate in Finish@UT degree completion program.

The minor in Educational Technology prepares prepares students in K-12, higher education, corporate, and military settings to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for the digital classrooms of tomorrow. Graduates of this program will have a much better understanding of the uses of technology and how they can be applied in face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online instructional/training settings.

The minor in Technology Education and Corporate Training prepares students to develop the skills needed to assess the training needs of adult learners; develop online and face-to-face training sessions using innovative technologies; become a consultant, leader, and/or supervisor to meet the growing adult learning needs in healthcare, industry, computer information systems, education, government, and other fields. Successfully complete four TECT courses to earn a Technology Training certificate.


THE BACHELOR OF MULTIDISCIPLINARY STUDIES (BMS). The Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Studies (BMS), offered by the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) as part of the Finish@UT program, is a highly flexible degree plan that offers a variety of concentrations. If you have completed the core curriculum or have earned a minimum of 60 credits you can select the concentrations that appeal to you and combine them, creating your own specialized degree. In addition, you have the option to select coursework seamlessly from three other partner institutions: the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP, and the University of Texas of the Permian Basin (UTPB). THE BACHELOR OF APPLIED ARTS AND SCIENCES (BAAS). The Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) degree offers students with an Associate of Applied Science degree credits an opportunity to achieve a bachelor’s degree.
